Alison Vallance-Barratt

Alison is a mixed media artist currently predominantly working in painting and printmaking. Working with the immediacy and fluidity of water-based media enables memories to be placed onto the surface rapidly as raw shapes, gestures and colour.  The serendipity of accidental marks is embraced and often the paintings are washed
away or scrubbed to leave traces that are then worked further.  The generally expansive composition explores the rhythm of travelling through the environment and the chosen colour palette is a response to changing light and weather. This fluid approach provides an insight into Alison’s experience and inspiration.
